Sten's Guitar Studio, also known as NYC Guitar Studio, is a New York City music education enterprise, operating at studio locations in Manhattan's Midtown
and Lower East Side and in Ridgewood, Queens,
catering to educational projects, schools and organizations in New York and elsewhere ever since 2006.
Building on all in all four decades of musical activity both as a performer, composer and educator, on the U.S. East Coast since 1989, in New York City since 1994 and overseas since 1977, Sten Hostfalt registered his NYC music production business Sonus Rex in 2006, with it's educational divison NYC Guitar Studio, a creative multi-genre facility, notably known as one of few places anywhere to offer systematic studies of microtonal music for the traditional, standard 6-string / 12-fret guitar.
Catering to the local community, schools and institutions of New York and it's many regular national and international visitors, Sten Hostfalt maintains an international profile virtual online teaching activity through SKYPE in order to cater to students elsewhere in the United States as well as to the international community. www.stensguitarstudio.com

Among the many hundreds students that veteran music educator Sten Hostfalt has worked with since teaching his first lessons in 1977 ( four decades and counting ), one of the particularly memorable is ace student Andre' Hetu', a true real-life success story and exemplary study in talent meets diligence, patience and hard work. Andre' started on acoustic guitar with Sten Hostfalt at East Village's First Flight Music School in 2011, switched to Electric Guitar and attended Third Street Settlement's ensemble programs, before a focus on Jazz Guitar got him accepted into both Manhattan School of Music and New York Jazz Academy's Summer Jazz programs (eventually opting to attend the latter). After intensifying his studies with Sten Hostfalt, in 2016 he was accepted into the highly selective Special Music School's High School Music program at Kaufmann Center, New York, and most recently received a scholarship to attend the Summer Jazz camp at Eastman School of Music, Rochester NY. We thank Andre' for his creative contribution and look forward to be hearing more of his music.
